Background

The FIF is the Canton of Geneva's innovation financing programme. It supports tech start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs stemming notably from UNIGE, the HES, CERN and Geneva research institutes.

The key points

The FIF is backing four new projects: dEEGtal, S-SENTIA, Juturna Bio and Pixels Métallurgiques. dEEGtal and S-SENTIA each receive 100,000 francs in FIF Seed Tech funding.

Juturna Bio and Pixels Métallurgiques each obtain a 50,000 franc FIF Grant. The projects cover EEG analysis, 3D imaging, brain ageing and laser decoration of metals.

Key figures

  • dEEGtal and S-SENTIA: 100,000 francs each in FIF Seed Tech.
  • Juturna Bio and Pixels Métallurgiques: 50,000 francs each in FIF Grant.
  • FIF Growth ceiling: up to 400,000 francs.

What it means for businesses

dEEGtal, based at the Wyss Center at Campus Biotech, uses artificial intelligence to improve epilepsy diagnosis. The funding will support its regulatory work and its entry into the US market.

S-SENTIA, a UNIGE spin-off, is developing a chip for 3D vision. Pixels Métallurgiques, from a UNIGE and HES-SO Geneva laboratory, targets watchmaking. Juturna Bio, an EPFL spin-off, is initially targeting Alzheimer's disease.

What's next

The next FIF application deadline is 4 November 2026. The programme is supported by the State of Geneva, FONGIT, the Fondation Modus and two UN agencies.
