Background
The guides at the Palais des Nations are the first point of contact for the thousands of people who visit the UN in Geneva each year. Since 1952, when guided tours of the UN headquarters began, their outfits have been entrusted to well-known designers. Edith Head, Benetton and Elie Tahari have dressed these guides.
The key points
The United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) has unveiled new uniforms for its guides, FashionNetwork reported on 6 November 2026. The project brings together the Pistoletto Cittadellarte Foundation and the Permanent Mission of Italy. It is part of the 70th anniversary of this mission to the UN in Geneva.
Entitled “Dressing The Values”, the project reflects three UN values: dialogue, inclusion and ecological transition. Fashion designer Tiziano Guardini created the collection. It is the first UN uniform to be fully circular and traceable, in line with the sustainable Slow Fiber supply chain.
Production brings together Italian textile companies. Filatura Di.Vè supplied the virgin wool, and Achille Pinto handled the weaving. The Pattern group carried out cutting and tailoring.
