Background

Campus Biotech is Geneva's life sciences and neurotechnology hub. It is home to the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuro Engineering, among others.

The key points

Geneva has been named European Capital of Brain Health 2026 by the European Academy of Neurology. The title recognises its research and innovation ecosystem, according to GGBa.

Campus Biotech is among the institutions cited, alongside the HUG, the University of Geneva and the CHUV. The title was marked in late June by the EAN Congress at Palexpo and an awareness campaign: sleep well, stay active, eat well.

Key figures

  • Around 1,000 m² for the AI Hub opened in December 2025 at Campus Biotech.
  • A new nine-storey, 3,500 m² building planned for Campus Biotech.

What it means for businesses

The AI Hub, operated by the HUG with the Wyss Center and the health department, brings together clinicians, researchers and AI specialists. It targets epilepsy, stroke and depression. The campus also hosts neurotech companies such as Neurosoft Bioelectronics and BrainScape Medical.

BrainScape Medical has received the FDA "Breakthrough Device" designation for drug-resistant epilepsy.

What's next

Campus Biotech is set to expand under the canton's Innovation Master Plan 2025-2027.
